C-support has received many questions in the past about the so-called 'James Bond remedy' against post-COVID. BC 007 is originally a German medicine. It was developed by Berlin Cures, a group of German researchers, as a medicine against a form of heart failure caused by autoantibodies. These are antibodies that are directed against parts of the body itself. The drug is said to be effective in neutralizing these autoantibodies, but has not yet been approved for this application.
Some time ago, the drug was administered by an ophthalmologist at a university clinic in Erlangen to a patient with glaucoma and post-COVID symptoms who appeared to have similar autoantibodies, as in heart failure (for which the drug was originally marketed), but against the blood vessels. The treatment consisted of a one-time administration of the drug via an infusion for 75 minutes. The drug proved effective in restoring blood circulation in the smallest blood vessels of the eye, but also in reducing post-COVID symptoms such as brain fog and fatigue.
Research effect on post-COVID
Based on the above findings, a study was set up to be able to make statements about the applicability, effectiveness and safety for a large group of post-COVID patients. In this study, participants were randomly assigned to receive BC 007 or a placebo. The participants did not know which drug they would receive.
In November 2024, Berlin Cures shared the results of the study. The data, together with previous studies, show that BC 007 is safe and well tolerated. Unfortunately, the study showed that BC 007 worked no better than a placebo. No further in-depth analyses were done. Due to financial problems, Berlin Cures had to stop all activities.
