C-support launches national campaign: Post-COVID, do you recognize it?
The consequences of corona will still be felt in 2024.C-support launches a national campaign on October 2 Post-COVID, do you recognize this? A campaign to inform potential patients, but also their environment, about the often difficult to recognize complaints of post-COVID and the effects it has on someone's life and that of their loved ones; people can no longer function as before.
At the moment, there are an estimated 450.000 people in the Netherlands with long-term complaints after corona, also called post-COVID. About 90.000 of these patients are severely limited in their daily lives and are therefore barely or not at all able to participate in society. Not everyone knows that C-support was founded to offer free advice and support to post-COVID patients with medical, psychological, social and work and income issues that many patients face due to their illness. We hope to increase brand awareness through this campaign so that everyone who needs advice and support can find it.
“My head feels heavy, I am short of breath and it is difficult to concentrate. I can no longer perform even simple tasks.” (Hanneke, 54 years old, secretary)
In many cases, unknown makes misunderstood
Many people with post-COVID are faced with a lack of understanding. Director-manager of C-support, Annemieke de Groot, emphasizes the importance of recognition and acknowledgement of corona complaints and their consequences. Consequences that require attention.
"We are still seeing many people from the first corona wave. Long after the infection, they are still struggling with physical complaints such as severe fatigue, concentration problems and shortness of breath, but often also have many issues in the areas of work and income, among other things. Unfortunately, we cannot make people better, but we can show them the way and offer appropriate support," says Annemieke de Groot.
Common complaints
Did you know that 1 in 8 Dutch people have multiple long-term complaints after corona? Post-COVID can affect anyone. The symptoms are very diverse, which can make it difficult to recognize post-COVID. There are now more than 200 known symptoms within the disease. Most people have an average of ten to fifteen complaints. Click here for an overview.
“Aren't you actually suffering from burnout?”
The impact of post-COVID is huge. It affects your health, family, work and social life. The ongoing physical complaints and their effect on both mental and social areas can also cause problems with work and income. Many people do not know where to start in their search for help. Like Said (36 years old, hospitality entrepreneur):
“When you're at a loss, it's reassuring to have someone to help point you in the right direction.”
Advice and support
C-support informs, supports and advises patients and relatives about post-COVID and guides them to appropriate care. It also offers news and (further) training for professionals and care providers about post-COVID, which contributes to more knowledge and understanding and better integral cooperation for the benefit of patients.
