First themes already invested
In May this year, C-support and Long Alliance Netherlands launched the 'Platform Knowledge Exchange Covid-19 recovery and aftercare' established. One of the goals of this platform is to set up a so-called further development agenda: themes for which we believe actions are needed to improve the situation for post-COVID patients. This further development agenda is ready and the first themes have now been assigned.
More than 19 organisations participate in the Platform knowledge exchange Covid-25 recovery and aftercare. The core group of the Platform consists of employees of FMS, NHG, NFU, PostCovid NL, Long Covid Nederland, Long Alliantie Nederland and C-support. All parties together focus on the gaps surrounding this topic and actively bring organisations together for, for example, mutual coordination and knowledge sharing.
Further development agenda
An important goal of the Platform knowledge development COVID-19 recovery and aftercare is to set up (and update) a so-called further development agenda. This agenda describes the themes on which the platform believes action is needed to improve the situation for patients. The further development agenda drawn up in June of this year contains eight themes:
- Post-infectious preparedness: a comprehensive approach to emerging infectious disease outbreaks
- Accelerate post-COVID infrastructure development
- Strengthen research and make it part of the post-COVID infrastructure
- Strengthen care and assistance: develop and implement an interdisciplinary transmural care pathway post-COVID
- Centralize information for patients and caregivers
- Recognition, acknowledgement and awareness
- Make more use of each other's expertise and training
- Good information provision in the field of new interventions
First themes already invested
In recent months, the world around post-COVID has not stood still. For example, 32 million has already been made available by outgoing Minister Kuipers of VWS for the establishment of a research and expertise network and to conduct research into post-COVID and ZonMW has now issued the first subsidy call for this.
With these developments, the first five themes have already been covered. Themes 6, 7 and 8 require even more attention, according to the Platform. The Platform Knowledge Exchange COVID-19 Recovery and Aftercare will therefore call on its participants to pay attention to this as well. In addition, various live and online meetings will be organised in which the various parties can share their knowledge with each other.
