Dosage
- Start low, go slow: begin with a low dose (0,25 mg or 0,50 mg) and build up carefully to a maximum of 4,5 mg.
- It's not always necessary to increase your dose to the maximum dose (4,5 mg per day). Sometimes the effect is more optimal at a lower dose.
- LDN is available in drop form (0,25 mg per drop, bottle is 10 ml (1 ml = 20 drops): price approx. € 20, -), and capsules (from 0,5 mg).
Side effects
In general, the drug is well tolerated, reported side effects include headache and vivid dreams/nightmares or insomnia (the latter probably due to the endorphin release, this is often temporary at the start of treatment, possibly remedied by moving the time of intake to the morning, and if still persistent, by halving the dose for a week before increasing it further).
Precautionary measures
- Caution when using alcohol, tramadol, morphine-like preparations and ketamine simultaneously: consultation with a pharmacist is advised.
- Patients with PAIS (ME/CFS or post-COVID) often have flu-like symptoms and often experience worsening symptoms in the first eight weeks (this is normal and often a sign of a good long-term response). Recommendation: increase/titrate more slowly and, if symptoms persist, return to the tolerated dose.
Pregnancy and lactation: not well known
