As Q-support and C-support we also have the task of broadening knowledge.
On Thursday 4 April, Petra Manders (aftercare advisor) and Sophia Casey (aftercare advisor) provided training at SOCOS Eindhoven to independent client support workers and the social domain in Eindhoven. This was about supporting people with Q fever and post-COVID from their position. People with these post-infectious conditions are often not well understood. There are care providers who think they know a lot, but after training they often discover gaps and assumptions in their knowledge.
Participant: “I thought I already knew a lot about post-COVID, but I notice that there is still a lot I don't know.”
On Friday 12 April, C-support provided a training course on post-COVID for the National Association of Psychosocial Workers (LVPW). The LVPW is an independent professional association for professionals in the psychosocial field. LVPW wants to radiate the quality and expert care of its members and represent their interests. In the context of the annual general meeting, the association therefore wanted to offer its members an expertise development on post-COVID.
Edith Kok (pulmonologist, medical advisor) and Sandra van Kan (aftercare advisor) discussed the latest medical and scientific developments and the impressive impact of post-COVID. For example, they discussed how to deal with PEM and POTS in providing psychosocial care, the effect of Living Loss and why it is so important to recognize people with post-COVID in the despair and loneliness of 'not knowing'. The meeting in Utrecht was well attended and the presentation was experienced as impressive, insightful and interesting.
The training will also be provided by Sytske Peterson (aftercare advisor) and Edith Kok in May and June by means of a webinar to Praktijksteun POH-GGZ from Eindhoven.
