Who are we here for?
Fortunately, most people recover from corona (COVID-19 infection). A large group of people still have complaints three months after a COVID-19 infection. There are also people who have long-term complaints after a COVID-19 vaccination. C-support is especially for all people with long-term complaints after a COVID-19 infection or COVID-19 vaccination.
C-support model
C-support advises and supports people with long-term complaints after COVID-19 or a COVID-19 vaccination. We look at the complaints and the consequences of these complaints on all areas of life. This can involve physical and mental health, social life, work and income. We look at what is needed to improve the situation. We help find the right care providers. In case of problems with work and income, we work together with labor experts, lawyers and financial advisors.
Good care requires professionals with up-to-date knowledge of the disease. We share our knowledge with healthcare providers and other professionals. We do this by providing education via webinars and training. This knowledge is the result of research. We stimulate research and advise on research into Long COVID. C-support does not conduct research itself.
Lessons from Q fever
At C-support we have learned a lot from Q fever. C-support is the sister organization of Q-support, the foundation for aftercare for Q fever patients. The symptoms associated with a COVID-19 infection are very similar to the symptoms that Q fever patients have. From Q-support we know that timely aftercare is very important in recovery from an infectious disease. And that we should not only look at the symptoms. But especially at the consequences of those symptoms on all areas of life.
About C-support
Patient participation
Not for, but together with the patient has always been the starting point of our work at Q- and C-Support. Within Q-support, patients have contributed to the organization in all sorts of ways from the start.
The continuation of Q-support and the establishment of C-support required a renewed approach to patient involvement. The establishment of the Patient and Experience Experts Platform (PEP), in which both Q fever patients and post-COVID patients have jointly taken part, is part of this. Furthermore, a core team has been put together, consisting of internal professionals who represent all disciplines within the organization. This team's task is to make patient participation an integral part of the organization.
The aim is that patients should be able to participate at all levels and thus have a direct influence on the design and content of our services.
Reporting code for child abuse and domestic violence
Domestic violence and child abuse usually arise from powerlessness or overload. In most cases, it is not intentional. Furthermore, it does not have to take place at home. Violence or abuse affects someone's integrity. It disrupts healthy growth and development and can lead to permanent physical and psychological damage. That is why the Reporting Code Act was created.
The Reporting Code Act has been in effect since 01 July 2013. This law obliges employees working at C-support to use the reporting code in the event of suspicions of domestic violence and child abuse. Within C-support, the choice has been made that everyone who has direct contact with patients acts according to the Reporting Code.
