C-support is creating the podcast "Living with Post-COVID" for people with post-COVID-19 and other interested parties. In each episode, aftercare advisor Pascale or Jolien* talks with an expert. How complex is this condition? What is its impact on patients? And what are the best ways to cope? The series is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and YouTube.
In this episode, we talk with Lisa van Mierlo, an occupational therapist at Ergotherapie van Dam. Lisa supports both post-COVID and Q fever patients. People with post-COVID-19 or another post-infectious condition are forced to maintain their boundaries. But how do you do that? How do you assess your resilience and ensure you don't overstep your boundaries, which could worsen your symptoms? And how can you better manage all the stimuli you receive? Lisa explains what an occupational therapist can do and offers practical tips to get started yourself.
Tools
This episode explores various tools used by occupational therapists. To help you get started, we've listed these tools and provided links for more information:
- Activity weigher
This is a method for managing your workload. It's a tool for planning daily activities and optimizing your day or week. - Don't run, plan
This is a treatment program in which patients learn to cope with their cognitive problems through education and strategies. One component of this program helps them gain a better understanding of planning and carrying out activities. - Should I do this now?
For all tasks you normally do on autopilot, try asking yourself the question, "Should I do this now?" Each time, shift the emphasis to the next word: MUST should I do this now? IK do this now? should I DIT do now? should I do this? NU do? should I do this now? DO.
