Long-term complaints after COVID-19 known as Long COVID or Post-COVID syndrome
Advice offered by the Health Council to VWSSome COVID-19 patients continue to have complaints. This is often long (long-term) COVID or post-COVID syndrome. The Health Council has mapped out the scientific literature on this subject. It describes a variety of complaints, which sometimes last for months and can decrease over time. The available studies still contain many uncertainties. It is clear that post-COVID syndrome not only has consequences for the patients themselves, but also has implications for healthcare. Additional research is needed to be able to focus better on prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The Health Council also advises ensuring broader awareness of post-COVID syndrome and to closely monitor current care for patients.
