Healthcare workers scheme reopened
Outgoing Minister Dijkstra has indicated that he wants to reopen the scheme for healthcare workers, so that healthcare workers who were previously unable to submit their application on time can still do so. Work is now underway to set up the application portal for this purpose. The aim is to reopen this counter this spring.
The minister has also been asked to increase the one-off support and, on the other hand, to extend the scheme to a broader group of healthcare workers. There is no (correct) financial coverage for either the motion or the amendment submitted for this. Therefore, alternative coverage must be sought.
The minister will return to these points at the end of April. Read below the letter that the outgoing minister of VWS sent to the House of Representatives about this.
Update – April 26, 2024
With the scheme 'Healthcare workers with long-term post-COVID complaints', the government has paid a group of healthcare workers with long-term post-COVID complaints a one-off amount of €2023 per person in 15.000. With this, the government wants to acknowledge the suffering that these healthcare workers are confronted with on a daily basis.
Following calls from the House of Representatives and society, it has been decided to expand this scheme. The amount will be increased to €24.010 and the demarcation of the period in the scheme will be extended. As a result, healthcare workers who reported sick at work between 1 July 2020 and 31 December 2020 will also be eligible.
The 'Healthcare workers with long-term post-COVID complaints' scheme is expected to be opened a second time at the beginning of the summer. Healthcare workers with long-term post-COVID complaints who had not yet applied in the autumn of 2 can then still do so. This also applies to healthcare workers who were previously not eligible. It will soon become clear when exactly the scheme will be opened and how healthcare workers can submit an application. Healthcare workers who previously received the amount of €2023 are of course also entitled to the increase in the amount. They do not have to submit a new application.
Update – June 14, 2024
The scheme has been adjusted and the amount has been increased to €24.010. In addition to healthcare workers who reported sick at work between 1 March and 30 June 2020, healthcare workers who reported sick at work between 1 July and 31 December 2020 are now also eligible for this financial support. You can apply for the one-off financial support from 1 July 2024 at 9.00:23 until 2024 September 12.00 at XNUMX:XNUMX.
Healthcare workers who previously received the amount of €15.000 are of course also entitled to the higher amount of €24.010. They do not need to reapply for financial support and will automatically be notified.
