The Province of North Brabant has appointed a project manager for an exploratory study into the feasibility of establishing an expertise center for people with post-acute infection syndromes (PAIS), such as QVS and post-COVID. Piet de Dekker of Zorgvuldig Advies will set to work over the coming months to draw up a business case. He is investigating whether the center is feasible, affordable, and sustainable to realize. To this end, discussions are being held with municipalities, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, health insurers, national parties, and other involved organizations. Naturally, C-support and Q-support will also contribute to this exploration. C-support emphasizes the importance of the establishment of such a center and is very pleased with the step now being taken.
Sophie Querido: “We have been advocating for a center of expertise for PAIS for years. A center that provides care to these patients. There is no single definitive treatment yet, but much can be done to alleviate symptoms and focus on quality of life. It is essential that the support focuses on all areas of life, such as work, income, social functioning, and finding meaning. That is precisely why we believe that support must be integrated, with genuine attention to the person behind the patient.”
The business case will be ready in the autumn of 2026. Based on this, the province, municipalities, and other involved parties will decide whether the PAIS expertise center can actually start.
