Dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe several conditions that cause a disruption of the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system then does not function properly. There are several causes of dysautonomia, including post-infectious syndromes (such as post-COVID and QVS), ME/CFS, but also Parkinson's disease, for example. Dysautonomia mainly occurs in women.
