Why does C-support want to collaborate?
Not much is known yet about long COVID. Why do some people experience long-term symptoms after a COVID infection? How many people are affected? And what are the patient's needs? What we do know is that post-COVID is a physical illness with biological causes that has a major impact on patients' lives. Effective care therefore consists of a combination of:
- Medical and paramedical care
- Psychosocial and social support
- Scientific research that continues to search for targeted treatment options
That is why it is important that we collaborate and share knowledge and insights with one another. This way, we can limit the consequences of post-COVID as much as possible. That is an important lesson we learned from the Q fever epidemic. Back then, aftercare only got underway seven years after the outbreak. For many people, that was too late. Timely aftercare is crucial for recovery from an infectious disease. This allows us to prevent things from getting worse.
Who do we work with?
C-support collaborates with many different organizations and shares knowledge and insights with healthcare professionals dealing with post-COVID. We consult with general practitioners, medical specialists, and occupational physicians, as well as umbrella organizations of healthcare providers, various government bodies, and agencies such as UWV, the Centre for Work and Health, and Longfonds. We are part of the Post-COVID Network Netherlands (PCNN).
Only together can we tackle the consequences for all areas of life of people with post-COVID.
What can C-support do for you?
We support and advise you as a professional in various ways. For example, through a consultation with one of our medical advisors regarding your patients' long-term COVID-19 symptoms. You can turn to us for peer consultation, where we can act as a sparring partner to help you think through case studies, or for customized training requests.
We work on the basis of an academic triad: for us, care, research and education are inextricably linked.
We participate in the PAIS Casuistry Network, an initiative of Understood Complaints for healthcare providers who seek appropriate care for seriously ill patients with post-acute infectious syndromes (PAIS). Healthcare providers can submit cases monthly.
Education and research
C-support does not have a research budget, but we do stimulate research into (the consequences of) COVID-19 and assess research applications, for example for ZonMw. Our aftercare advisors and medical advisors also provide training and refresher courses and also provide these for external professionals. We are happy to help you with your own training session or a customized refresher course.
Do you have any questions? Would you like to collaborate with C-support? Or would you like to speak to one of our medical advisors? Please contact us contact on with us.
